“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
With a background of supporting and counseling children of all ages, with a host of learning challenges in a number of educational settings including the public & private school system, The Ministry of Family and Children and several tutoring agencies I am well aware of and familiar with the difficulties so many youngsters go through.
In addition to academic expectations, exam and test anxiety, conflicts with teachers and/or peers, phobias, allergies, sleeping difficulties, fear of the dark and many other issues in and outside of school, children also have to cope with constant changes in their physical bodies, as they grow at an incredible rate into adulthood.
Will I be able to accompany my child during the hypnotherapy session?
Legally you have to be with your child if they are under 16 years of age.
How can hypnotherapy help my child?
Many children live in an imaginary world. They tend to respond very well to visualizations and ‘guided imagery’. This enables me to address many of the issues that have arisen in their lives. Just the relaxation itself helps reduce tension and teaches them how to relax – giving them ownership and a level of responsibility in order to cope with challenges in the future. Research indicates that children respond positively to hypnosis. Generally their focus tends to be shorter than adults, but they often reach deeper levels of relaxation.
What happens during in the session?
To begin with I will want to talk and get to know your child – build a rapport and find out what is troubling them and how they would like to feel. Here I will put emphasis on what we are hoping to achieve and less on their dilemma.
I will next want to see how they respond to my voice, with a gentle relaxation adding some positive suggestions. These suggestions can have a tremendous positive impact on resolving the issues they came to see me about.
