Often it is easier to primarily focus on our energy on a symptom which we are experiencing such as a phobia or an allergy, weight gain, low self-esteem/low self-confidence, demotivation, anxiety, stress……………….than to ask ourselves why do I feel this way? or why does this happen to me? (the route cause).
Yet a symptom or symptoms certainly deserve attention. If I work with a client who explains they are demotivated and have low self-confidence, initially it maybe prudent to address these symptoms before searching for why they exist, in order to support them feeling better about themselves and motivated to create ‘change’. Once there is a momentum of positive change then searching for the route cause maybe advisable. However everyone is different. Some clients want to search for the route cause immediately. If they already have successful strategies to cope with the symptom or symptoms they are experiencing then certainly more time can be devoted to determining the route cause. If they do not have any coping methods established then I’ll offer some suggestions to relieve the symptom or symptoms they are enduring. Everyone is different. The Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy I provide is tailored to each person I work with.
